Mathematics
Objectives
To develop students’ critical thinking, creativity, planning, inquiry, and mathematical reasoning skills.
To enhance students’ ability to use mathematics to formulate and solve problems in daily life, mathematical contexts, and other situations.
To strengthen students’ ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills through STEAM education.
To enhance learning and teaching effectiveness through e-learning, promote self-directed learning, and improve students’ ability to use information technology to learn mathematics.
To promote mathematical reading so that students understand the connections between mathematics, real life, and other subjects.
To foster students’ generic skills, positive values, and proactive attitudes in a well-rounded manner.
Teaching Features
The Mathematics Department upholds the principle of “learning by doing,” encouraging students to explore mathematical concepts through hands-on experiences and independent inquiry. By using real-life examples, students can understand mathematical challenges in an accessible way, thereby increasing their interest in learning.
To further develop students’ problem-solving skills in different contexts, various problem-solving tools are introduced according to topics for Primary 1 to Primary 4 students.
