Sai Kung Sung Tsun Catholic School (Primary Section)

Lunch Guidelines for Students and Parents

1. Student Lunch Guidelines

  • Mandatory On-Campus Lunch: All students are required to remain on campus for lunch.
  • Lunch & Recess Hours: Lunch is served from 12:40 PM to 1:15 PM (40 minutes), followed by lunch recess from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM.
  • Primary 1 Dining Arrangements: Primary 1 students dine in their respective classrooms. Class teachers will dine alongside students to provide care and support, assisted by parent volunteers.
  • Daily Items Required: Students must bring a wet towel, tissues, and clean utensils to school every day.
  • Utensil Policy: The lunch caterer provides a complimentary set of utensils to all incoming Primary 1 students who order meal plans. Students who forget their utensils must register with the caterer to borrow a temporary set free of charge. Repeated failure to bring utensils will require purchasing a replacement set.

2. Guidelines for Parent-Delivered Lunches

  • Prohibition of External Fast Food: Ordering food from commercial fast-food outlets (other than the appointed lunch caterer) is strictly prohibited to ensure food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Drop-off Location & Schedule: Plastic drop-off containers labeled by class will be placed at Staircase No. 2 at 12:10 PM. Parents delivering lunch must deposit lunchboxes into the assigned container between 12:10 PM and 12:35 PM. Lunchboxes must not be dropped off prior to 12:10 PM or left unattended to prevent loss. Parents are not permitted to deliver lunches directly to classrooms. For assistance, please contact the General Office.
  • Restricted Food & Beverage Items: Please do not send liquid foods such as noodle soups, or soft drinks (due to high sugar content).
  • Container Specifications: Parents must provide a plastic or stainless-steel insulated lunch container for their child.
  • Labeling Requirement: All food must be securely packed in lunchboxes or plastic containers clearly marked with the student's name and class.
  • No Reheating Services: Reheating facilities are not available at school.
  • Classroom Access: Parents are strictly prohibited from entering classrooms to accompany their children during lunch.
  • Daily Hygiene: Parents are requested to wash used utensils daily.
  • Placemats: Parents should provide a placemat for their child. Students are responsible for wiping their placemat clean and storing it in the classroom during the week, then taking it home every Friday for washing.

3. Lunch Ordering Guidelines

  • Menu Distribution: Personalized monthly lunch menus are distributed to students around the third week of each month.
  • Payment & Submission: Accepted payment methods include cheque, bank deposit/transfer, and Circle K convenience store payment. The payment receipt must be submitted to the lunch caterer within three working days after the menu is issued.
  • Subscription Term: Lunch orders must be made on a full-month basis.
  • Cash Prohibition: Cash payments should not be handed to class teachers.
  • Absence & Cancellation Procedure: In the case of absence due to illness or personal leave, parents must contact the lunch caterer directly (+852 3746 9561) between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM to request a lunch cancellation. Late notifications will not be eligible for a refund.
  • Refund Processing: Approved refunds for absent days will be processed two months after the request date.
  • Opt-out Requirement: Students who do not wish to order school lunch must still return a blank menu form containing the student's name, class, and a parent's signature to the caterer.
  • Equipment Care: Utensils supplied by the lunch caterer must be brought home daily for washing; lunch trays will remain at school.
