【Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden x Sai Kung Sung Tsun "Nature-based Eco-literate Experiential Education Programme" (NEEEP) Cultivating Good Stewards of the Earth】
Facing global environmental challenges, developing students' "eco-literacy" is an indispensable part of preparing them to be "Future-ready." To align with the development of the Primary Science curriculum, our school is deeply honored to become a partner school of the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) to jointly launch the "Nature-based Eco-literate Experiential Education Programme" (NEEEP)!
Deep Professional Exchange and Learning for Our Teachers
Excellent ecological education must be led by a professionally equipped teaching team. To bring the most cutting-edge eco-education concepts back to Sai Kung Sung Tsun, our teachers recently visited Kadoorie Farm in person for professional exchange and learning. Through field studies and interdisciplinary exploration, our teachers have deepened their eco-literacy teaching skills, injecting richer experiential learning elements into our school-based science curriculum.
Connecting with the FfF Framework: Practicing "Coexisting with Nature"
This programme perfectly aligns with the pillar of "Coexisting with Nature" in our school's Framework for the Future (FfF). Under the guidance of our teachers, students step outside the classroom to explore nature with their five senses, translating cross-disciplinary knowledge into real environmental actions:
Primary 4 Practice: Building "Insect Hotels"
Through field trips and scientific inquiry, Primary 4 students gained a deep understanding of the importance of biodiversity. Exercising their engineering and problem-solving mindsets, they designed and built "Insect Hotels" with their own hands, providing safe habitats for tiny living creatures on our campus and in nature, truly putting ecological conservation into practice.
Primary 5 Practice: Experiencing "Natural Indigo Dyeing"
Combining nature and art, Primary 5 students stepped into the world of traditional plant dyeing. By participating hands-on in the process of "Natural Indigo Dyeing," our children not only learned about the wonders and practical values of plants, but also discovered how to incorporate the concepts of environmental protection and Sustainable Living into their daily creative works.
Teaser for Learning Outcomes Showcase
Would you like to appreciate our teachers' and students' fruitful achievements that blend nature and creativity in person? The Primary 4 "Insect Hotels" and Primary 5 "Natural Indigo Dyeing" artworks, alongside the Primary 6 "AI Climate Guardians" EBL project, will be officially exhibited at the "Green Sung Tsun, Smart Future" event on June 12th (Friday)! Please look forward to the brilliant achievements of these future eco-guardians!
